Sony PlayStation: PS1 Market Entry
The challenge
In 2012, Ben Francis started Gymshark in his parents' garage at age 19, drop-shipping fitness supplements. The fitness apparel market was dominated by Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour with massive marketing budgets. A teenager with no money needed a different approach.
The strategy
Francis identified that fitness YouTubers and Instagram influencers had highly engaged audiences who trusted their product recommendations. Long before influencer marketing became mainstream, Gymshark gifted apparel to fitness influencers.
