Zepto: 10-Minute Grocery Delivery
The challenge
Dollar Shave Club's Michael Dubin identified that men were overpaying for razor blades dominated by Gillette's expensive cartridge system. The category was boring, functional, and ripe for disruption. He had limited marketing budget but needed to break through the noise.
The strategy
Instead of competing on product specs alone, Dubin used humor and personality to position Dollar Shave Club as the anti-Gillette. The marketing strategy was to make a low-interest category interesting and shareable through entertainment.
